Additional Information The majority of postal art installed in this show is the result of 2 separate 'open art call's which were put out by notification, primarily on facebook by "Sinclair Scripa" (Curator Tara Verheide herself). The 'call's' were named for the requested art on the themes of : "Women Art Scientist" or "Avant Art in the Global Conspiracy Of Now". They invited anyone and everyone to interpret the theme of choice by making and mailing an original art work to the curator, with the understanding that no artwork will be rejected or returned; or in other words every single work is guaranteed documentation and exhibition, but will remain in the call's permanent archives. Open Art Calls are a standard practice amongst mail artists, and the calls for this exhibition yielded fantastic results with unique perspectives and novel approaches to the themes. Also installed in the show are many personal artworks, artifacts, zines and texts taken from the curators personal archive of postal art so as to make an extremely comprehensive survey of the formats, modalities and art genres (such as fluxus, dada, neoism), that postal artists typically touch upon or utilize to expand their 'network' of colaborators or correspondents. Much is sure to entertain, and women artists are the star focus!
